CoVault Analytics

From raw data to real decisions.

CoVault Analytics is a South African data and AI company. We build the data platforms, analytics and business applications that organisations run on. AI engineering agents help us build them faster, and a developer reviews every change before it reaches production.

Data starts out scattered across the systems and spreadsheets your business already runs on.

What we do

We handle your data from the systems it starts in to the dashboards and decisions it feeds. Where off-the-shelf software doesn't fit the way your business works, we build the application too.

Data engineering and Power BI

Data engineering

Pipelines on Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse that move data from your source systems into a governed lakehouse or warehouse. Loads are set by configuration, so adding a source or changing a schedule doesn't need a software release.

Analytics and BI

Power BI dashboards, semantic models and real-time KPIs. Each person sees the level of detail their role needs, so the reports get used.

Business applications

Secure web applications that replace spreadsheets and ageing systems: registers, workflows, approvals and reporting. We deliver them in your branding and support them under a Service Level Agreement.

AI-accelerated engineering

AI engineering agents work inside our reviewed, quality-gated process, so software that once took months now takes weeks and costs less to build.

Cloud, DevOps and operations

We deliver on Azure, Azure DevOps and GitHub, with infrastructure as code and automated deployment pipelines. We also run what we build: monitoring, daily health checks, patching and keeping cloud spend within budget.

Data strategy and leadership

We design the architecture for your whole data estate. When you need a tech lead, a CoVault developer can set delivery standards and lead your team.

Our products

Co-Fin and Co-Track each began as the answer to a real client problem. Both are now complete applications that we deploy, brand, support and keep developing for organisations with the same need.

Co-FinIn production

Client register and compliance calendar for accounting practices

An accounting practice lives by its deadlines. Co-Fin replaces spreadsheet registers with one secure system of record for clients, engaged services, staff assignments and filing deadlines, and works out every due date itself.

  • Every due date calculated. Co-Fin holds fifteen South African filing rules, from VAT201 and EMP201 to provisional tax, CIPC annual returns and AFS, and works out each client's due dates from their year end.
  • Rule changes handled for you. When a filing rule changes, we update it in Co-Fin as data. Your team has nothing to install.
  • A calendar per person. Staff see the returns they're responsible for, late returns are flagged, and every completion records who and when.
  • One register of record. SARS, CIPC, UIF and customs registrations, contacts and engaged services, captured once.
  • Gaps surfaced early. Unassigned work and clients missing details show up before they become missed returns.
  • POPIA-ready. Data held in South Africa, sign-in with multi-factor authentication, and a database that can't be reached from the internet.
5 weeksfrom the first line of code to an accounting practice running its full client register in Co-Fin. In daily use since October 2026.

Co-TrackReady to deploy

Time capture and project cost management for project-based firms

Accurate time capture underpins billing and project profitability. Co-Track brings time, leave, expenses and travel into one application, with structured approvals and live cost insight per project stage.

  • Two ways to capture time. A weekly timesheet grid by client, project and stage, or an Outlook-style calendar where you drag to log time.
  • Outlook meetings appear live. One click turns a meeting into a time entry.
  • Stage-level cost. Every hour and expense sits against one of six delivery stages, from Inception to Close Out.
  • Approvals with separation of duties. One queue for approvers, and two independent approvals for expenses and travel.
  • Your tenant, your data. Single sign-on with existing Microsoft 365 accounts, deployed into your own Azure tenant with no hosting margin.
Daysto stand up a fully configured environment, with a complete user guide and demonstration data.

AI speeds up the build. A developer owns every change.

Our developers work alongside AI engineering agents that read the codebase and write the code, tests and documentation. A CoVault developer decides what gets built, reviews every change and is accountable for what reaches production.

  1. 1Developer

    Outcome

States the business outcome and why, often from client feedback received that day.

  2. 2AI agent

    Investigate

Reads the relevant code and sizes the problem with read-only queries before changing anything.

  3. 3AI agent

    Build

Writes the code, automated tests and documentation together, on its own branch.

  4. 4Automated

    Quality gate

Formatting, linting, type checks, tests and a production build must all pass.

  5. 5Developer

    Review and release

Reviews the change, merges it and verifies it in production.

5 weeks

Speed

Co-Fin went from first line of code to production in five weeks, then shipped more than 50 reviewed changes in its first ten weeks.

Every change

Reviewed

AI never merges its own work. Every change passes the automated gate and a developer's review. Database changes are versioned and non-destructive.

Written down

Continuity

Architecture, conventions, runbooks and onboarding guides live in the repository, so your system never depends on one person's memory.

We use the same approach to run platforms. Automated daily health checks review a production data platform's storage, query and pipeline activity each morning and summarise it in plain language, so anomalies and cost spikes are caught early.

How we protect your data

Every CoVault application is built on Microsoft Azure to the same standard, so security is part of the platform from the first day.

Data stays in South Africa

Applications, databases, storage, secrets and logs run in Microsoft's South Africa North region, in line with POPIA.

Enterprise sign-in

Microsoft Entra ID with multi-factor authentication. A leaver's access ends everywhere at once.

No passwords in the stack

Applications reach their databases through Azure managed identity, so there are no connection strings to leak.

Access follows responsibility

Every read is scoped to what the signed-in person is responsible for, and covered by automated tests.

Defence in depth

Parameterised queries, validated inputs, network-restricted databases and private document storage.

Controlled change

A protected main branch, infrastructure as code, and versioned, non-destructive database migrations.

Our work

A selection of recent engagements.

Logistics group

Data engineering, platform operations and technical leadership

We build and maintain production data pipelines, with a CoVault developer as tech lead owning architecture, delivery standards and team direction.

  • Git-integrated Microsoft Fabric workspaces for multiple business units, with configuration-driven hourly loads
  • An Azure Synapse and SQL data warehouse platform, with infrastructure deployed through CI/CD
  • Daily automated health checks that keep the production platform reliable and within budget

Accounting practice

Co-Fin, built and run as a managed service

We designed, built and now operate the practice's client register and compliance calendar. We confirmed its filing rules with the partners and loaded its full client register. It has been in daily use since October 2026, with no infrastructure or IT of the practice's own.

Engineering consultancy

Front-end dashboard development

We build and maintain the dashboards the client relies on for day-to-day operational visibility, and support them on an ongoing basis.

Co-Track

Product engineering

A complete time, leave, expense and travel platform for project-based professional services firms, with Outlook calendar integration, two-stage financial approvals, stage-level profitability reporting and a full user guide.

How we work with you

One simple model covers our products, custom applications and data work. Your retainer stays the same each month, and you approve anything extra before it starts.

A once-off fee to get started

Setting up Co-Fin or Co-Track, or building your custom application, has a once-off fee that we agree in writing before any work starts.

One monthly retainer

From implementation onwards, a monthly retainer gives you about 10 hours of our time each month. Use it for support, changes and improvements to your application, or for data and Power BI work. There are no per-user fees, so adding staff doesn't change it.

Bigger work, quoted first

When something needs more time than the retainer covers, we scope it and send you a quote. The work starts once you've agreed to it in writing, so there are no surprises on your invoice.

Hosting at cost

You pay for hosting separately, at exactly what Azure charges. We can host your application in our Azure subscription in South Africa, or deploy it into your own Azure tenant so Microsoft bills you directly. Either way, we configure, operate and monitor it. There's no lock-in.

Questions we often get

Where is our data hosted?

Applications we host for you, with their databases, storage, secrets and logs, run in Microsoft's Azure South Africa North region, in line with POPIA. If you prefer, we deploy into your own Azure tenant instead.

Do we need our own IT or Azure subscription?

No. We can host your application in our Azure subscription in South Africa and charge you exactly what Azure charges us. If you already have an Azure tenant, we can deploy there and Microsoft bills you directly.

How do you use AI, and who checks the work?

AI engineering agents read the codebase and write code, tests and documentation. AI never merges its own work. A CoVault developer reviews every change before it reaches production. Only a CoVault developer changes production data, identity or cloud configuration.

How do you charge?

Setting up Co-Fin or Co-Track, or building your application, has a once-off fee. After that, a monthly retainer covers about 10 hours of our time each month for support, changes, and data and Power BI work. Anything bigger is quoted and agreed in writing first. Hosting is paid separately at Azure's cost, and there are no per-user fees.

What if we need more than 10 hours in a month?

We scope the extra work and quote it first. Nothing beyond the retainer starts until you've approved the quote in writing.

What support do we get after go-live?

Every implementation includes role-specific training and extra support through the first full month. You also get a 90-day warranty, bug fixes for the life of the agreement, and a Service Level Agreement with defined severity levels and response targets.

Do you work on site?

We work remotely. When it helps, we come to you or set up an online session.

Which technology do you work with?
